Does the past matter?

So I've been talking to this guy for 3 months and we've finally started letting our family members know about each other. I'm 18, he's 18.

Last year (Junior Year) he got into some trouble with marijuana. His friend gave it to him to pass on and he got caught. Now the principals at the school can vouch for him being a good kid and the past not affecting the present. My grandmother works for the school and my dad is saying he's going to have her look him up.

I told her that wasn't fair for her to look through his personal information just S cause he's talking to me! I'm afraid that they're going to make me stop talking to him. He isn't a bad kid. He's a good boy. He looks like a bad boy but there's so much more than meets the eye.

Any advice?

You're both legally adults so you can make your own choices. And no, they shouldn't be accessing his personal records for personal reasons.

It is illegal for her to do such a thing and an abuse of her position. Confidential information should only be accessed and shared on a need to know basis for official purposes. That's so sad of her.

Literally ask them your concerns if they want to work it out theyre the one for you, if they get incomfortable i dont see the point in continuing, relationships take a lot of work from both parties to work at all

I think it's probably illegal for her to use school records for personal use. Maybe the school board needs to know about her abuse of power and her spreading gossip about students. I bet if his parents report her she's going to find out pretty quickly what it feels like to be judged.
