If your doctor was no help would the er be better?

If your doctors were slow with results or you felt like you was not being helped the way you should during pregnancy would it be better to just go to the er even if you're not in serious pain just to speed things along and figure out what the deal is?

No, going to the ER with no emergency is a waste of everyone's time. They don't know anything about you or your pregnancy, and their job is to make sure you aren't dying. That's all. They do not have the capability to run the tests that your OB does. Trust me I know, I work as an ER nurse. Keep on your doctors office, and if you aren't happy with how they do things, find a new OB. But please do not go to the ER without an actual emergency.

If you don't mind spending the money, maybe. Most likely, if you going in without any real pain or urgent problems though, they will turn you away or not do anything worth while.

Do what you want but the nurses will be rolling their eyes and have zero sense of urgency for your impatience because the ER is for actual emergencies. If you don't think you're being treated well by your current practitioner- change! Interview a few OBs, midwives and find one who will figure things out with you...

I'd hate for my kid to break his leg or for my granda to have a heart attack and have to wait to be seen because of someone else's impatience.

No, the ER is there solely to solve the problem you came in with and if they can't then they admit you to the hospital where healthcare providers will work around the clock to fix whatever your problem is. Find a new doc. This comes from an ICU nurse.

I sat in the ER waiting room at 12 weeks pregnant, while bleeding, for 4 hours before I found out my baby was still alive & okay. All the while I thought I was miscarrying. If you don't have a real & serious issue it is best to wait to hear from your doctor or change doctors if you are unsatisfied with their service.

What is the doctor not taking serious?
I had an issue with an OB not taking my conception date seriously and I was told my baby was not growing right. I skipped a period before actual conception and they had me 4 weeks ahead of what I KNEW to be right.

No. Just no. Quit being impatient. Seriously. You will have a very long pregnancy if you keep up with that attitude. Also, hate to break it to you, but even some test the er does, is the same amount of wait time as the doctors office.
