I am a 41 yr old FTM with GD. I was supposed to be induced on 2/27 at 39 w 5d due to GD. I woke up at 5am yesterday and my water broke in thw shower! I felt two distinct gushes. I had a 7am NST apt at the hospital so decided to get ready for work just in case. At my apt. They confirmed it was definitely my water and checked me into the hospital. I had no contractions so they gave me pitocin at noon yesterday. I was only 1cm and 50%effaced. A few hours regular contractions began. I labored throughout the night w my amazing husband and doula I had taken a hypnobirth class and planned to try natural as I didn't want to be tied to a bed.

Around 11pm the contractions became painful and about 2 min apart. We kept going and I became exhausted and emotional but still didn't ask for pain meds. At about 5am the pain became unbearable but I figured I must be almost fully dialated. They checked but I was only 2 1/2 cm.😂 my spirit was nearly broken. I was also hooked up to multiple IVs due to GD and GBS positive plus pitocin and a vaginal monitor for contractions which meant I was barely mobil and could not shower or eat. I was done and begged for an epidural. Best decision I ever made. By 6am I received it and within minutes was pain free I've never been so happy!

They let me rest and checked my cervix at 10am. I was 9 cm!!! All that progress without pain and while resting. At noon they checked again and I was 10cm. I started to feel slight pressure so we did a test push and they could see his head!!!

They called the doc and told me to try pushing again...one contraction, 3 pushes and a giggle later my little peanut was out!! The doctor didn't make it. The nurse had to catch 5lbs 15 oz! Im still in shock and overjoyed
