Provera?!? Clomid?!? What to expect?!?

Today I went into the doctor bc we have been trying for a while and no luck. On top of that I have not had a period since December 17, 2016. On Feb 4th I had some brown spotting but nothing more. So my he wrote me provera to start my period and clomid for days 5-9. I have to follow up with blood work on day 23.

This is my first experience with both medicines. So my question is...

Will the provera make me cramp more? Or change the heaviness of my flow?

And with the clomid.. how many cycles does it normally take on average? I know everyone is different. But I guess I am looking for the what I might expect versiom?!? I am a little nervous
