My husband told me after this baby he wants me to get my tubes tied so we won't have kids until 3 or 4 years later we can have our last one. I don't like the idea. And I suggested we can just do birth control. I have to start doing my research on birth control. I guess

Do notttt get your tubes tied if you plan on having more kids?! That makes no sense! Reversals aren't guaranteed to work, and most of the time insurance won't pay for it so you'd have to pay for the procedure out of pocket. In my opinion, getting your tubes tied is a permanent decision. Definitely look into your birth control options! Implants and IUDs are fantastic for long term thinking!

I agree! don't tie your tubes if you plan on having more children. If he's concerned about doing a procedure to have birth control tell him to get a vasectomy! They can reverse that much easier than they can for you. I also second using an IUD.

Don't tie your tubes. Assume tying your tubes is permanent because that's pretty much the best option women that don't want kids anymore do. I had the mirena right after my son was born.... he's 3 now and I got it removed in July last year and got pregnant in September. I'll probably do the same after this baby... I'm only 25 and I'm not trying to completely shut down the factory. You never know and it might mess up your hormones. Unnecessary.

Don't tie them! You will be at an increased risk of ectopic if you do reverse it later. Most doctors won't do a tubal ligation as temporary form of birth control, it's usually considered permanent

Isn't it just as easy if not easier to reverse a vasectomy? Maybe I'm wrong. I'd tell him that though, it doesn't make any sense to get your tubes tied when you want more kids. Just get on birth control and if he's still worried, have him wear a condom also. Don't get your tubes tied.

Most insurance companies won't pay to have your tubal reversed. Meaning, at least in the US, that you'll have to pay AT LEAST 10,000 out of pocket for surgery. It's an elective surgery, not medically necessary. You pay everything. If you want another child, please use a form of birth control. You most likely will not be able to afford a $10,000+ second baby.

Or why not get an IUD? It lasts 5-10 years and can be taken out at any time. It's really hassle free and I'm definitely planning on getting another put in after I give birth to my little one! There are very minimal side effects and it is basically instantly reversed without the issues of surgery or otherwise. I removed my previous iud and less than two months later found out we were expecting. I highly recommend talking to your doctor about it.
