ttc after vr

So my husband had a vasectomy 4 years ago after our dd was born. Fast forward this past January he had a reversal. We've been given the ok the start trying and I ovulated right when we were played. I had tonsss of pregnancy symptoms and got super excited only to have af show up on time. Heartbreaking because I truly thought I was. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with ttc after a vasectomy reversal? How long did it take? They say it can take up to a year.....but I'd really hate that .... looking for hope
