Should I stop?

So I don't know if this is okay but I've been doing this because I had no idea if it's okay or not??? But the whole laying on your back? Is it or isn't not okay? Or is it just different for every woman?
Im 36weeks 4days and I've been laying on my back ever since I was pregnant. My midwife never said anything? Should I be considered??

I tried sleeping on my side but towards the end of my pregnancy I developed PGP & it was painful to lay on my side. I slept much more comfortably on my back & baby & I were both fine.

It decreases blood flow to the baby as you are lying on its main blood supply. Try your side.

If you lay flat on your back with no pillows. If you're propped up, it's probably ok.
This recommendation to sleep on the left came from a study done on pregnant women and they found that the best blood flow comes from being on the left side and that makes the baby more active (that's why they say lay on your left if you notice decreased movement and also why in labor, if they notice a dip in baby's heart rate, they put you on your left to get more blood to him).
They found that those who were on their right sides or backs, had less flow and their babies would be in a more sleep like state (to conserve oxygen). Our babies and bodies basically adapt to what's happening. The risk of something bad would be if that oxygen goes bellow a certain level but I guess you would probably feel dizzy and nauseous before that happens.

My midwife said to lay however youre comfortable if its harmful to baby you will be uncomfortable

It's not the best position to be in since it compresses a major artery that goes to your uterus. If you were causing major damage, you'd be in pain or sick (this happened to me. I get very nauseated if I lay on my back for more than a short period). But id try to avoid it.
