On all the leaflets around my hospital it says to feed a baby on demand not by the clock.

Unless your baby is having issues gaining weight and you are told to wake baby to feed don't do it never wake a sleeping baby. Baby will wake up when they're ready to eat newborns don't really need a lot starting out and will sleep a lot.

No, when he was a baby I fed him when he woke up and began fussing or crying. Never woke him up.

Only during the day. She had her days and nights switched and the lactation consultant told me I couldn't feed her enough during the day and not to go more than 2 hours without feeding her. 
And at night to let her sleep as long as possible. Only pick her up to feed her when she starts to cry and to ignore all her other little fussy sounds till then.

We were told by the lactation consultant to never wake a sleeping baby (unless of course there is a weight gain issue). Babies will tell you when they are hungry and some babies can go several hours without a feed (if you're lucky enough to have a baby that does this, enjoy it while it lasts! Babies like to change it up as they grow so in a few weeks your LO may wake every 2-3 hours!)

I did for the first week and half of his life. Then once I saw he was gaining weight I let him wake on his own.

Once they regain their birth weight they can go one long stretch and you don't have to wake them up to eat unless there's a weight gain issue.
