Is it okay for a 19year old girl to be with a 46year old man?

I've fallen madly in love with the most amazing man in the world. My dad disliked this and forced me to delete his number, but I still see him in secret :( let me know what you think.  I agree it's not quite right, but also he makes me so happy, he's perfect, and surely nobody should have the right to decide whether your relationship is right or not.

All I can think of is your poor Dad and how awful he would feel if he knew. Technically he can't go to jail or anything but he is technically old enough to be your father. I'm sure your Dad feels like he failed somewhere.

If nobody has the right to decide, and you're still seeing him, why even ask for our opinions? I don't get it.

I'm almost 29 and I have a friend who everyone thinks I should have dated, who is 49. I couldn't do it. His kids are like, 4 years younger than me, and my mom is about his age. Too weird for me. My parents have 11 years between them and I think that's pushing it, in my book.

My dad's health is deteriorating and all I can think of is my poor mom who will be left behind for who knows how long. I just know I wouldn't do well in that situation. But hey, to each his own, and if you've already made up your mind then to hell with others' opinions. I would talk to your dad about it though, sneaking around isn't cool. 😕

Bah! Your poor papa, but there's really nothing he can do if you're happy. One thing I'd advise is to be careful though! He could be trying to take advantage of you. That's probably what your dad is afraid of. Older guys, especially guys who are still single at that age, are usually emotionally unstable and could just be using you for sex or to boost his ego. My older guy friends (who I've never been sexually involved with) would tell you to stay away for sure. At least be cautious!

I don't mean to be morbid...but everything else aside, when you're his age, he is going to be, well, toward the end of the rope...sorry I didn't have a better way to say that 😖 but that would be one thing I'd fear, you can only spend half your life with him

I think that is too much of a gap. I want to have a husband. Not be a 50 year old care giver to my 80 year old husband. Also what do you have in common? You should be in college and having those experiences, not too sure how a grown man that is getting closer to retirement is going to have with someone who hasn't even started their career yet.

Why are you asking our opinions if you don't think we have a right to them when it applies to you? Anyway, I'm actually closer to the age is just a number group, as long as both have their eyes open. (I'm also not a parent yet, so that could change.) And just a thought, if you can't tell your dad that you're still seeing him, then you might want to ask yourself if you are mature enough for your perfect man.
