Any ladies with family in the service? I need advice

My brother just left for basic training for 6 months, I could use some advice with how to cope. I really miss him and wish I could just fast forward to him graduating already. I can feel myself slipping into a hole of sadness. Sorry this isn't pregnancy/baby related, I just don't have anyone to talk to.. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I was working when now hubby left for basic. Definitely helps to stay busy. The snail mail is fun to keep in contact and after a certain period they'll get one weekly phone call.

I wrote my husband a letter everyday!!! That way I felt like I was still talking to him and made the day go fast cuz I was so excited to go home and write to him. And then when his letters came in the mail I read them over and over and just waited for his phone calls.... 6 months is a long time but if you stay busy and positive then it will go fast!!! And when you find out his graduation day make plans to go it's a once in a life time experience you will not want to miss, then you will have something to look forward to and plan for😁

I don't have siblings in the service. My husband and myself are in the service. My oldest son went through marine boot camp. I cried for no reason for about the first week.
Knowing his agenda was helpful. I don't think the other branches have this... but he is busy, he is fine, he is doing something amazing and will be so proud of himself and his accomplishments when he is done.
It's awesome you miss him. Write him letters of what you're up to. Say you miss him in closing, but don't make the whole letter a sob story of how sad your life is without him.
Say you're proud of him, cuz you are, and set a goal for yourself. Learn something new, workout, run a race, lose weight (unless you're pregnant)... basically live your life and be happy he's living his.
I assure you, he's too tired to spend too much time thinking about home, he does think of you and miss you.... but he doesn't have time to feel the missing much.
Congrats to you and your brother for entering into this lifestyle.
