How long can you go before being induced ?

Today was my 38 week appointment and my cervix is closed up. Idc I figured it would be like that, I'm not physically extremely uncomfortable. My husband asked him at what point would he need to induce me and he said that he wouldn't let me go past 41 weeks regardless of my cervix status. It is funny because I know cervix status is subject to change quickly, but the doctor and the nurse both seemed disappointed that I was still closed.

My midwife said 39 weeks with progress or 40 weeks of no progress.

Since my pregnancy is high risk my doctor won't let me go past my due date by more than a couple days. However at this practice (this is based only on them, not all doctors offices) they will not induce you unless you are atleast a little bit dilated on your own. They go straight to csection. They say this is because  when you are induced when not already dilated there is a very increased risk of csection because your body wasn't ready and the baby begins to stress out. I don't know if this is true or not but it's what they told me. Sadly I am 37 weeks today and as of Monday I was not dilated at all but 50% effaced. Hopefully she makes her debut on her own sometime soon or I begin dilating before my due date.

Drs here will induce at 41. Second I was induced at 41, third I was scheduled to be induced at 41 too but he came on his own that morning

I'm not sure what my doctors are planning. They only had me schedule appointments up to 39 weeks and said that would be my last appointment before baby comes. So I'm guessing they won't let me go past 40 weeks.

My doc isnt letting me go past 40. I have GD and even tho baby is measuring "normal" (*7lb 2 oz* at 37 weeks) i am now 39 weeks. They dont want to risk having a 10lb baby, my biggest was 9 lbs so they figured that should be my max weight... so heres to one last week.....

If you've had a fairly normal and healthy pregnancy with no risks, most doctors won't induce until 41 or 42 weeks since you would be considered over due at that point. Very few will let you go over 42 weeks because you run the risk of the placenta no longer working properly after that point.

Mine doesn't want me to hit the 41 week mark, so if baby doesn't come on her own, I'll be induced at 40+6. I'm very comfortable with that decision.

My doctor told me today that to be induced by 42 weeks she would start methods at 41 weeks.

I was 42 weeks when I was induced. My doctor doesn't let you go any further than that.
