when to go out with baby

I'm a FTM due in July. When is it okay to bring your baby out in public?

I had my son at the end of June (2014). He had his first doctors appointment at 5 days old and of course we had to take him out then. We also left for my parents house that same day which was three hours away. From the day we left the hospital we didn't limit ourselves on where we could go and what we could do just because we had a child. It's okay to take babies out, just be smart about it.

I took my daughter out as soon as we left the hospital. My doctor told me that babies are born with a "complete" immune system and going to dinner with your in-laws isn't going to hurt anything. Not to say that they're immune to everything, but they can tolerate the outside world.

I took my daughter to the mall when she was 5 days old. I also took her on walks almost everyday since she was born. I do breastfeed and I never let strangers touch her when we're out. But honestly I was more concerned with protecting her from the sun without overheating her than germs. She was born in late spring.

We took our LO to her first doctor appointment the day we left the hospital and went other places later that week.  It was January in Kentucky, but it depends on what you're comfortable with.

I had a woman tell me unless there was a tunnel from the hospital to the house then you've already taken baby out. I was like yeah ummm thanks for that.

I waited about two weeks with each of my kiddos. I kept a blanket over the car seat carrier and made fast trips to the store.

I will be taking my son out within the first two weeks forsure, if you keep them in there car seat and don't let strangers be touching on them there just fine, especially because it won't be cold and flu season. Also if you don't take them out to protect them from the germs there immune system is going to be weak and they'll just get sick anyways. My son is due in June btw

I think usually a month. Babies don't have great immune systems for their first month at least.
