When nobody respects your birth plan 😑

Question

Just looking for some insight or reassurance:

My family has been on my back about my birth plan. Namely, the part where I will not be allowing visitors at the hospital for 24 hours after my daughter is born (I'm a FTM). I want this time to be dedicated to holding her, learning to feed her, resting when I can, etc, but everyone is acting like I'm just doing it to be mean and keep people away and saying "you aren't the only one excited to meet her"... 
Am I being selfish for asking for some alone time with the child I've just spent 9 months growing? Or are they? I just wish everyone would respect my wishes and let me have a moment with my first baby before the hoards of family and visitors come non stop and I can't get a second to myself or with her.

Side note: I will be having my SO and my mother in the delivery room with me but will not be allowing any other visitors for 24 hours after.

Selfish?? You?? Hahaha. Nobody is allowed while I'm at the hospital at all. They have to wait until I've returned home and let them know I'm ready for visitors. Tell your family that then I bet they'll be more than accepting of only having to wait 24 hours.

My husband and our babies God mother will be the only ones that will be there at see her that day. I'm not doing a 24 thing. However I'm doing something similar. If I deliver at night, no one can come until the following afternoon. If I deliver early morning, people can come late that night. I basically was at least 12 hours of resting and alone time together just like you. It's your body, your baby, your choice. I won't be telling anyone my birth plan until I'm much farther along. I'm currently 23 weeks + 2 days. Everyone will get over it eventually.

You are not selfish. Do what you want! The hospital will not allow anyone if you tell them you don't want anyone in.

My plan is, DONT let anyone  know you're in Labor  :)  they will be none the wiser.... But ill only have my husband there, and I told  everyone (blamed it on my OBGYN) that I am not to have visitors  until one successful  feeding,  and we both get skin to skin contact time..... also I threw in there I need a shower first too.

Not selfish of you at all. And just to make sure that they have to respect your birth plan, let your nurses know that you dont want any visitors for 24 hrs. They are usually good about helping out so you can rest and dont have to stress over it. Enjoy your time with baby.

Nope! We're doing a homebirth and want 48 hrs to ourselves to enjoy our little one before having anyone over to meet him/Her. My mom will be at the delivery but then will have to also wait to come back and the in laws have to wait too. Luckily I've already talked to my mother in law about it and she's very understanding and completely respects our decision. We will let them know if we change our mind after but if we don't, they respect that.

Not selfish at all! My MIL is staying out in the waiting area while I'm in labor in case I ask for her or there's complications. BUT she's staying overnight in a hotel down the street to visit the next morning. It's all about you and your baby in that hospital room, family can wait while you bond, recover and learn.
