How do you work out your due date/how many weeks you are?

Hi everyone. So I found out that We're pregnant on Sunday.. 3 positive tests later I think I may believe it haha. So happy!! So do you go from your first day of your last period? This makes no sense to me as I know I wouldn't have conceived till a few weeks later. 
I'd like to have an idea of how far gone I am.

The docs will go by your period, but if your periods are irregular, they may change that based on the results of your dating scan. Babies tend to grow at the same rates for measuring purposes for the first several weeks, so if the date of your last period is off (maybe you ovulated late this month for some reason), they'll adjust it.

Yes you go by your last period. So for me as a example I had my last period on 11/14/16 which means my due date would be August 21,2017. I conceived on November 27th. I'm now 15+ weeks and my due date is dead set correct from the last time I had my last period.

Nigel's rule. Subtract 3 months from your LMP and add 7 days... Or google it haha

In school we're told to calculate it by a certain method, it estimates the expected date of delivery by adding one year, subtracting three months, and adding seven days to the first day of your last period.
