NO HATEFUL COMMENTS!!! Any April babies refusing to self-feed finger foods?

FTM here. My daughter will feed herself Gerber puffs, but that's it. When presented with bite sized bits of bananas, potatoes, strawberries, pasta, etc. she will just sit and fuss until I feed her. She has absolutely no interest in feeding herself. As a result, we are still doing purées bc I want to make sure she is getting certain nutrients, and exposure to different foods and flavors. Does anyone have any ideas or any experience with sparking interest in self-feeding finger foods? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Same here! No interest in feeding himself. I give him the option to feed himself every meal but when he doesn't I go ahead and do it. I try not to rush it. I tell myself everyone learns to eat! Haha And he will when he's ready.

Mine just picks up the bite size food, plays with and examines it before throwing it on the floor. The dogs are happy though. 
He eats lumpy mashed food if I feed him though.

My son's the same way. He puts everything in his mouth except food. The other day he actually bent down and ate a puff from the counter with his mouth, that was the first time he ever self fed lol. So no advice, but you're not alone.

I'm in the exact same boat. For example she loves her purées, bananas are one of her favorites but when I tried to give her a real banana she refused to eat it and gagged. I've tried avocado, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, sweet potatoes...gags! She loves puffs and wafers but that's it. We bought panko breaded chicken nuggets at Costco, cut it up and she actually ate a few pieces! Other than that I'm stumped. I feel horrible seeing other babies eating everything and I'm buying stage 2 baby food still 😐

Mine too, but I have realized it's not a problem with his coordination - he just hates the texture of most of them! He touches them and if he can get in any way dirty, he tosses them to the ground or puts them in the dogs mouth instead of his own. Then he examines his fingers like he's annoyed at the bit of carrot/crumbs/whatever that's left on them. He has absolutely no issue bringing toys and found objects to his mouth, and when it's a "favorite" like a dry eething wafer, suddenly he's just fine.

Mine is only interested in food if I feed her. Also 11 months old. Lol She will throw bite-size pieces of things in the floor, and I'm not going to chase them all over the house. So, I just feed her what she'll eat for now. She will grow and learn eventually. :)

For my son, it's a texture thing! He will feed himself certain things, but doesn't want his hands to be sticky or dirty at all! If you want her to self feed, try dry bits of food that aren't messy (puffs, toast, blueberries,  banana chips).

It's a gradual process. My daughter refuses to hold her sippy cup herself, she just wants to lay back and drink from it.
Just keep trying and eventually she will start picking up food herself

My daughter would eat bite sized food only if we fed it to her....after a couple of weeks she just decided to do it on her own. She made a grab for it one day and now she only wants to feed herself without our help...so now she doesn't like the pureed foods...
