Best convertible car seat?

Looking to get a convertible car seat for my son. Any recommendations are appreciated! Preferably something very safe that didn't cost an arm and a leg! Thanks ladies!

We are doing the Graco Milestone for this baby. My first had an infant seat until 14 months then the Graco Nautilus (which she still uses as a highback booster at age 6).  Since baby now needs to be rear facing for longer, and the Nautilus is forward facing, we narrowed it down to the Milestone or the Graco 4ever.  
The Milestone is about $100 cheaper and since we need 2, it's kind of a no brainer. Both are great car seats but the 4ever can be used as a backless booster way down the road and the Milestone can't go backless. But with saving $200, buying a backless booster in 7 years shouldn't be a big deal.

Any of the Graco convertibles are good seats and aren't too expensive!  Size4me/mysize/headwise/fit4me.

We have two Chicco NextFits and we love them! One is the zip version. We have had to take advantage of that and wash the seat a few times. These seats are heavier than the Graco 4Ever and Extend2Fit. We originally tried a Graco as our second seat but I didn't care for the way my daughter fit in it. My sister took it and still uses it though so it's probably personal preference.

Graco nautilus 65,  I still use it for my 5yr old, reasonable price. Just make sure to get one with a forward facing 5 point harness weight limit of 60 pounds or more. Most are 40 pounds and then after that you have to use it as a booster with the regular seatbelt. My son was 40 pounds at 3 and I had to buy a whole new seat.
