Kidney issues preventing pregnancy?

Someone I work with told me she might be pregnant but they doctors didn't say and that it's highly unlikely she could carry the baby due to kidney issues. I never heard of that before tried googling it because I was curious . Anyone hear of this or had it?

My cousin lost her kidneys at 14, got a transplant at 15, had the kidney for about 8 years (she's 24 now) and has lost her transplanted kidney about two years ago I think and has been on dialysis since. Anyways she got married two years before her transplant failed but the doctors told her they don't advise her to get pregnant bc the pregnancy could kill her, her kidney issues gave her other health issues, such as diabetes and other things like that.

Well, it's a complicated situation. Because the kidneys play an important role in filtering blood of toxins, conservation and excretion of nutrients/electrolytes, and production of erythropoietin which is the hormone that is responsible for the stimulation of bone marrow to make red blood cells (along with other hormones), it may be more risky to carry a child for someone who's kidneys aren't functioning correctly. It may not necessarily mean that someone can't get pregnant if their kidneys are compromised, but it may not be advisable. Depends on that persons situation.

I knew a girl who had a lot of trouble conceiving due to renal disease and doctors told her that due to health of kidneys that becoming pregnant could cause serious medical complications for her and increased likelihood of not being able to carry to term or having multiple miscarriages... she eventually stopped trying and adopted.
