Can you request a c section?

I really want to request a c section if they are trying to give me piticon. I'm getting induced tonight and I reaallllyy don't think I can handle those pains from the piticon. Could I request a c section instead? I'm 6 days over due

There is a lot more pain associated with recovery from a c-section, not to mention the large scar you will have.

As someone who has been induced twice and also had a c section I can tell you the induction with pitocin is FAR BETTER THAN THE C SECTION I promise you. Yes pitocin sucks but it's a few hours and it's done, plus you can get an epidural, you'd have to get a spinal anyway with a C section. After my inductions I felt a little sore but at least I could lay down and lift my baby and walk around just fine. After my c section I was in constant pain for 10 days even with narcotic pain pills, couldn't lift the baby, couldn't lay down flat for days, laughing or coughing would make me cry. I hated my c section in comparison to my vaginal deliveries even with pitocin. I'm 7 months pp and still sore where I had the incision. I would not opt for a c section unless you or the baby's life is in danger, period.

Where I live you can request it, no medical reason necessary. I've actually heard lots of stories of women being induced with pitocin and having an easy, natural birth so try not to scare yourself.

Your recovery pain will last weeks rather then just dealing with the pain for a few hours for a vaginal

I mean, wouldn't a csection suck more in the long run when you need to care for baby? My best friend just had a csection (she requested it bc her first was a c section) and completely regrets it bc it sucks when you have to attend to baby and keeps getting up..

A girl I worked with just posted that her baby wrapped his cord around his neck twice and she had to have an EMERGENCY c section and she wouldnt wish that on anybody.. id rather deal with pitocin than recover from c section

Just get an epidural.

Also, birth with pitocin isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I was expecting it to be horrible. And then it wasn't. My mom did it 5 times. And 4 were without pain meds.

Why don't you try an epidural? I can guarantee you a c section recovery will be waayyyy more painful.

If it's something you really want it won't hurt to ask. Don't feel guilty for asking for a csection.
