Our sweet puppy and our sweet baby on the way
I have read posts about animals and babies coexisting in a home. My husband and I have a dog that will be 2 years old in July. I recently brought our dog around my cousin's 2 month old son. As soon as I had the baby in my arms, our dog jumped up and started nipping at the baby. When I spoke to the baby, our dog got extremely jealous. It naturally made me nervous. For my husband it is difficult and it's difficult for me as well but our child comes first. If our dog cannot coexist with our own baby, we will find the dog a new home. When I say new home I mean we will find someone who will love her just as we do. We live in a 2 bed/2 bath apartment. If it came down to it, we would love to find her a home with lots of land to run and maybe a playmate. We wish she had those things now, but she doesn't. In no way is that "throwing the dog away." Humans are more important than animals. I'm a huge animal lover and I do not condone cruelty or mistreatment of any animal, but if that animal threatens my flesh and blood, I will find someone who will love the animal just as much (if not more) than my husband and I. If we have to find her a new home, I will miss her dearly. But I have to do what's best for our child.
