Should I take a Pregnancy Test?

I took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and it was negative. I was supposed to start my period 2 days ago and still haven't started. If I dont start within a couple more days, should I test? I don't want to test too early like I did a few days ago because it just creates crushed hope 😩 but I'm so eager. And I'm not sure I'm having any other symptoms other than being late. We've been TTC for a couple months now.
