Birth story 👶🏼 *UPDATE*

Mrs P • Wife & mummy to a 10 month old. 👼🏼 11th of Dec 2017 💔👼🏼
At 37 weeks +1 I had a huge bleed with fresh clots present. We went straight to triage and during an examination the doctor believed she saw some meconium. The doctor decided to induce straight away. She then re entered the room saying the consultant disagreed so I was to be admitted for monitoring. I had brown bleeding through the night and babies movements began to decrease. In the morning I was examined again and the consultant began the induction process and gave me a sweep (should have just done it in the first place 😅) they insterted a tablet that usually works over 24 hours but agreed to check it after 12. I began contracting during the 12 hours but no frequency. They removed the tablet after 12 hours and I was 3cm dilated but cervix was high so we left me over night to see if I could progress alone. At my next check I was 4cm cm was given another sweep. I was admitted to labour ward. In the labour ward I was placed on oxytocin and was left to progress. Contractions began to pick up quick and I used gas and air. The pain after a few hours was so intense the nurses suggested an epidural. They believed it would benefit me as I had 2 nights worth of no sleep minimum food and high sickness and I should save any energy for pushing. I took their advice and it was the BEST decision. Labour from that point was calm me and my husband even had a giggle. I still felt contractions now and again but I had the gas. At my next check I was 9cm!! I reached 10cm but babies head was a little high so we waited 2 hours to push. We began too push. After an hour the epidural wore off so I just used gas and air! Another hour and I had moved baby down but I was crying and throwing up from sheer exhaustion I had erratic blood pressure and baby was becoming stressed. It broke my heart when they said we had to use forceps. I didn't want our baby all hurt and bruised. Nurses said they would only be a guide as I pushed her enough. So we set up for forceps and they decided I needed an epidural top up to cope. It took 3 big pushes and she was here! We had skin to skin and I throw up the whole time. My shakes where uncontrollable and very violent. I had lost over a litre of blood I had lots and lots of stitches and a graze. My heart rate was erratic and the sickness uncontrollable. I was given meds and time to stabilise. Once I was ready the wheeled me and my sweet baby girl to ward and it was then when I felt an overwhelming amount of love. She was born at 2am on the 10th of march she was due the 27th. Early appearance but we couldn't be happier. Mummy still feels dreadful also looks dreadful but this baby is so worth it. She weighed 7.6 1/2 and 51cm long. Still no name but she's our angel. Sorry for the long post! Just want to say good luck to all you mummies to be and also induction is TOUGH. Listen to your body and nurses. Natural birth isn't anything and wouldn't have prevented my complications. Here is some pictures of our spring chicken.
