Advice on moving to another country?

Me and my boyfriend are in a long distance relationship. I live in the us and he lives in japan. In the future we plan on getting married and living in japan. Im just curious on how people move to another country and how did you adapt ?

I'm living in France now. It is hard to be far from family so invest in skype, Whatsapp, viber...also make sure you try to integrate yourself (other than just looking to your partner) by joining groups/doing social activities you like. You'll resent your partner if you get too lonely!

I moved to Canada on my own 7 years ago, from India. I'm still on my own as my family lives in India and done intent on moving here.

I focused on finding a job first. Any job. To keep myself busy. Then I tried to find a career oriented job. I joined websites like Meetup where I could meet like minded people and socialize. 7 years later, I still work hard and volunteer and socialize to keep myself busy in a productive way.

Don't rely on your bf for everything. I mean that in a good way. Have a life of your own. Otherwise you'll get frustrated. Since he lives there, chances are he already has a life of his own. Keep busy with things you enjoy.
