Help. I hit my boyfriend

My boyfriend is the sweetest man I've ever met and always has good intentions. But he always messes things up in a way that hurts me the most. Today he made me so upset that I hit him and locked myself in the bathroom and cried because I feel so terrible. I didn't mean to hit him, I've never done that before, I just got so angry at him. Help me.
