major cramps

I've had a small amount of blood come out yesterday but then it stopped after that one time. I also had a little brown discharge. My period is suppose to start tomorrow and I'm having major cramps! Could it be just my period causing me to spot and have severe pain? I'm sexually active with my boyfriend but we always correctly use condoms
