What's the difference between people who want Sharia law and what some want to do with allowing Religion to invade the Constitution?
So I was thinking about it and found that while many who are religious are amazing people. Many also want the separation of church and state to become non existent. Specifically in the US many quote The Bible as means to say that a law is immoral, such as abortion, gay marriage, etc. So at this point I began to wonder how is this any different than what Sharian Law is which by definition is "religious law forming part of the Islamic tradition." So now I know people will start saying "But Sharian Law is horrific because of all the brutal punishments etc!" Which I'd like to respond with, have you read the Bible? So I feel like this might be a great discussion to have on CC. What are your thoughts?
EDIT: I am not for Sharia Law, now was I implying anyone was trying to implement it in the US. However I was pointing out the hypocrisy of those who use the Bible as a reason to keep certain laws from being set in place or to shame other from exercising their 14th Amendment right (amendment that protects abortion). This was in NO WAY me saying I'm for church and state being joined.
