If you are younger than 35, and not a smoker, your chances of having blot clots from the pill are extremely LOW!
The best thing is to talk to your doctor about what's correct for you and your body and lifestyle!
Some pills will cause depression, daily headaches or migraines, and daily cramping. I experienced this on Trisprintec, the generic for Orthotricyclen (not Orthotricyclen Lo like I asked for) so when I switched to Velivet, I was/am much happier! I have almost NO period symptoms, always start on Saturday the week I'm supposed to start and finish on Wednesday. (Shorter period for me) the flow isn't super light, but it's not as heavy as it once was and the cramps are down to a minimum! I feel better on Velivet!
The only advantage condoms have over the 99.9% effective (when used properly) pill is the STD protection! Condoms only protect from pregnancy about 97%  I believe, but 100% protect from STDs where are the pill does not stop STDs!!

The pill won't prevent STDs, so you are at risk unless in a very committed relationship.  Otherwise some women react badly to the hormones, i do.   I get gall bladder attacks, some women get blood clots (esspecially if over 35 and a smoker), i am sure there are others.  Birth control pills have a lot of side effects they dont really tell you about.
