I'm headed out on a road trip at 32 weeks. I'm going home 12 hours to Tennessee for my baby shower that my mom is throwing me.

It's like 20 degrees and raining. It's cold. We've been trying to get out of town for a solid hour. But between gas stops and picking up breakfast and the wind blowing us all over the road, it's been slow going.

We barely get out of town and my kid says he's gotta pee. So my husband pulls over for him to use the emergency toddler potty we keep when we travel because he's not fully potty trained. And of course there isn't anywhere to stop. So I haul him out in the freezing rain and wind and try to let him pee. Nothing. He decides he doesn't have to go. 🙄

Okay that's life with a toddler.

But in hauling him in the freezing rain I dropped his new ereader into a puddle when I opened the door to get him in his seat. It was basically submerged.

I cussed. We aren't even off the island yet and I've killed his brand new book reader we gave him this morning for the trip. And my toddler immediately repeated my "oh sh*t."

I try not to cuss especially in front of my kids. He's probably never heard that word. But I was freezing. He's gonna wanna stop again. It's wet and I've killed his toy. I slipped. Part of me was annoyed my husband didn't even try to get out of the car to help me or even offer to do it since I'm pregnant. Not that I couldn't do it. I can. I feel terrible. I didn't mean to. I don't want my 3 year old walking into grandmas cursing.

Now my husband is acting all put out. Like I'm sorry. I'm human. I curse occasionally. But not in front of the kids. What a way to start this freaking long trip.

UPDATE: Apparently my mouth is getting me in trouble today. My husband told me I said something before we ever stopped that pissed him off. I didn't realize I'd even upset him. He told me that's why he didn't help me, and he apologized because it was ugly of him. It's also pretty out of character for him not to at least offer to help me especially in a situation I could fallen or gotten hurt trying to pick up a 3 year old. Today is not my day to talk apparently. Now I really do feel terrible. But the toy survived.
