What is your favorite proven or unproven myth?

I thought this might be an interesting conversation. What is a myth - proven or unproven - that you believe in? Whether you've researched its validity or not, or you believe in it regardless and it guides certain things that you do, or traditions (or habits) you uphold in your life, what's something that you hold dear to you? 🙂

Mine is Karma. I believe that everything we do balances out in some way, shape or form. So, if we do something nice for someone else, karma will allow good things to come your way. Likewise, if we do something cruel to someone else, someone will do something cruel to us. Not sure if that makes sense or not, but it's one thing I believe in wholeheartedly.

I definitely believe in karma. Not many people believe my story, but I tell it anyway.
I was a compulsive liar as a teenager. I had a rather horrible upbringing and felt better when I got attention-I can't change that but I'm better now.
But going towards my late teens, my lies started to come true. I said I lost some cash-the next week I lost some cash. I said I was too sick to go to school-the next morning I'd wake up sick. 
It creeped me out for sure, and definitely cured me of my lying lol!

Karma isn't a myth. It is, however, an important part of Buddhism and Hinduism. Even if you don't believe in either religion/spirituality, I don't think that calling it a myth is very respectful to those that do. It doesn't seem to me that you were doing this to be intentionally unkind, but it could be taken that way.

I am kind of obsessed with the show Ancient Aliens if that counts, though I really think it's pretty accurate so perhaps not...

That men can lactate! I've read some documentation of this, although no research has gone into the quantity/quality of milk they produce. I believe it though. Why else would men have nipples? It's definitely an interesting conversation piece although my MIL has gotten a little heated, saying it's impossible and that men don't produce the right hormone.

It's my favorite because I'm absolutely terrified of it..the black eyed children with pale skin..they are demonic and usually found on your doorstep or ask for a ride home..they ring your doorbell and asked to be let in to call their parents and that when your home becomes a breeding ground for demons or catch a  Ride with you and say they couldn't find their parents and need help finding them..the kids are around 6 and could be as old as a teenager..it scares the crap out of me😭😭😭😭
