Health Concern?? 16 Week

Question

Yesterday I had a 30 min. sonogram done. Not by a doctor but a place called Fun Fetal. I'm 16 weeks pregnant,found out I'm having a boy. My baby was constantly opening and closing his mouth like a fish. Moving his hands over his face. I was wondering if this a health concern? The tech said wow that baby is hungry.The baby doesn't feed through his mouth. I happen to run across a comment a lady said its a sign for Down Syndrome.. Please,can anyone tell me if this is normal or not.I have a doctors appt. in a couple days.But hearing that kinda broke my heart.

At 16 weeks the baby is beginning to learn to breathe and opening and shutting its mouth is going to be how it learns

The fetus starts to empty his/her bladder during the 10th week of pregnancy. Urine is passed straight into the amniotic fluid, the protective fluid surrounding the fetus in the womb.

About five weeks later, the fetus starts to drink this same fluid.

So, while in the womb, the fetus is exposed to different tastes through the amniotic fluid.

The fetus likes certain tastes more than others, and will drink more amniotic fluid if it tastes sweet.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's normal for a baby to open and close their mouth in the womb. Try to remember if they asked for your Doctors name when you filled out your paperwork for your appointment. Places like that, are supposed to contact your doctor if they have any concern about the baby. I just went to one myself and that is what I was told. My doctors office told me at my 20 week ultrasound that you can't go by their dating and measurements either. The ultrasound tech told me her sister-n-law was told she was 2 weeks behind and was panicked. Turns out she was ahead and not behind. Made her worry for nothing. I think you're fine. I hope this helps a little bit. 😊🤰

I would REALLY try not to let that comment worry you. Those places can't diagnose anything of course but I've been to 2 and both told me if they saw anything to be worried about they would recommend making an appt with your provider. I had an early gender ultrasound as well and my baby was moving around like crazy. I think at 4ounces and only a few inches long, it's pretty normal :)
