how to be less awkward around bf's fam??

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over two years. His family is super nice and mostly all seem to like me.. but for some reason I feel SO uncomfortable around them. I really care about what they think of me and it's hard for me to be myself...
 this weekend there's a family party where there is going to be a ton of family that have heard about me but haven't met me yet and I'm SO nervous. Not to mention my bf has a habit of walking off and not introducing me to people. He doesn't mean to be rude he just doesn't think about stuff like that... 
my question is how can I be less awkward and not sit around on my phone so that they like me??? And are any of you still uncomfortable around your S/O's family??

I'm already shy as it is but I'm sooo scared and uncomfortable around my boyfriends family- and weve been dating over a year. I would probably just stick next to your boyfriend..

My husband and I have been together for over 6 years and I'm still awkward around most of his family. You could always offer to help in the kitchen, being seen as helpful can score you major points, and it gives you a chance to get to know the key females in the family, who are often the hardest to please.

First off tell him to not leave you off alone especially since you are about to meet new family members , just try to be yourself and don't worry much about what they think of you, try to make small talk or just let them talk to you which is what usually happens to me and just go on from there . Ask them about there day and simple questions like that and you should be good .
