That's something you should talk to your doctor about. Every pregnancy is different so you may need to gain more or less weight than someone else. My friend gained 40lbs and her doctor told her to stop after that and she was at a healthy weight before her pregnancy. When I talked to my doctor I was 149lbs and 5'2 and was considered overweight and they told me the max weight I should gain is 15-20 pounds. I'm 18 weeks and have only gained 1-2 pounds. Talk to your doctor to find what's best for you(:

My sister gained 40 with 3 out of her 4 kids. They put her on a restricting diet for the third pregnancy and she gained 30.

She said that was the worst and hardest last trimester and a nightmare of a delivery comparing to her other pregnancies. I think your body naturally gains what it needs to, I wouldn't sweat the scale too much as long as you're doing your best to take care of your health.

Not sure, I only gained 14.. Some people gain alot more but i agree with 30 being the max

It's all different. If you were healthy weight to begin with, you don't have to gain anything to have a healthy pregnancy as long as you don't lose weight. 
If you're overweight, it can actually be helpful for both of you to lose weight during the pregnancy (as long as it is your doctor recommending it and supervising you). 
That all said, it is normal to gain up to 30 pounds, that's just an average and has shown not to have negative impact if Momma was healthy weight to start with.
