Staying in a relationship for my dog?

This sounds really silly, but I feel like I am only staying in my relationship for my dog. Unfortunately I couldn't take him with me, and it would break my heart to leave him. Has anyone been in this situation?

Yeah, I had a cat once that I absolutely loved. When I decided to leave my ex, I couldn't take the cat. But I ultimately had to decide what was more important. My happiness, or an animal...I had to choose my own happiness.

I've been there twice, the first time I couldn't keep him but my ex didn't care for him so I made plans without my ex knowing and found him a new home with a lovely man that I kept in touch with. The second time I stayed for as long as I could but manoeuvred myself into a position so I could keep her with me, I couldn't leave my fur kids behind, to me they're more important than my temporary misery

Yes. It killed me to have to leave my dog but since i was the one moving out I couldn't take her with. He was always good with her though so I know she is taken care of. It still sucks when I look at old pictures of her but I am so much happier now.
