What do you all think about this?

Hubby comes from a very close knit family, almost too close knit. Like 30 years old plus still living with mom, mom cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner for them and taking mom out to get togethers with their friends... Hubby isn't this bad luckily plus we live together. We got married a few months ago and his birthday is this Tuesday. Today while at his mom's house his mom asks me what do I have planned for his birthday. I said for his actual birthday day something small and it's a surprise. She immediately gets mad and asks what about mom and his brother and sister? Just you two? What about us? Sometimes I just can't with his fam. In-laws...am I right?! Anyways, am I just being a b**** or do I have a right to enjoy a surprise birthday date with my husband on his first birthday with us as husband and wife?
