Bowel Issue?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and haven't pooped in 12 days. I tried stool softeners, is this normal and what should I do?

I'm not pregnant but I've been constipated a few times before and I took flax seed supplements to help aid in pooping, I do not know if you can or not take flax seed, but it usually makes me poop in 20-40minutes

You sound like me! I talked to my OB doctor about this issues at my last appointment. On average I've have a BM every 11-16 days, which I know isn't normal at all (eventhough I've never been "regular"). All he told me is to keep taking probiotics, stool softeners and pushing fluids which I've done all of that for about 3 months, but still no difference. If you find something that helps, please let me know what it is, so I could try it too.

I'm a nurse and I'd be giving you 40 of lactulose! That'll blow you right out! But for real... are you uncomfortable, pain, vomiting anything?

Consult with your physician for best course of treatment being that you are pregnant.

Try taking some fiber. That worked right away for me and I was horribly constipated and backed up.

Try some warm prune juice and walking.. or try milk of mag

It sounds awful I would talk to the doctor asap they might be able to prescribe something.
