Side Effects

Hi gals!! I just started my birth control about 3 weeks ago and I was wondering how to tell if it's working. I'm taking it with the intention to prevent pregnancy, I am getting married in 2 months and both my partner and I are waiting til marriage. I was wondering if I could take an ovulation test to see if it is working? If I'm not ovulating it means it's working, right?! Also, I'm experiencing some of the side effects like, extreme feelings of bloating, tender boobs and growth in my boob size. If I'm experiencing the side effects, does that mean it's working??
