Is it weird that my partner's mom still hangs out with his ex?

My boyfriend dated this girl in high school who his mom really loves. He's 25 now and hasn't talked to her in years yet his mom is always hanging out with her! Meanwhile, his mom hates me and says I'm too quiet and other ridiculous crap. But his mom is always commenting on her photos on Facebook (because she added me 🙄) saying she's so gorgeous blah blah. It seems a bit absurd. She even invited her to my boyfriend's college grad party and made a huge scene when she arrived yelling her name and hugging her. It just makes me feel really bad like she thinks I'm not good enough for her son.

Once you're an adult, you cultivate relationships. It's normal. My MIL is friends with my husbands ex and she's my age. They talk but don't hang out. I don't care. My husband chose me. His mom can do whatever she wants.

Maybe the ex is actually a really good friend to his mom. I think it's disrespectful that the ex showed up to your fiancee's party when he didn't invite her. Or at least ok it with him. But as long as his mom isn't forcing them into situations together or trying to get them back together it's fine. I stayed friends with an ex's mom before. She was more of a mom to me than my own mom was at that time. And I've had ex's stay friends with my dad. I respected my ex by not coming around if he was there and didn't want to see me or had a new girl there. And my dad doesn't hang out with my ex if I'm going to be around. It's bot a big deal, but there's still some boundries.

I really hope I don't get hate for this. My son made the same complaint to me about his gf. The has an ex that he has a child with and her and I just got to know each other because of my granddaughter. I wouldn't have met her if he hadn't got her pregnant. Anyway they broke up but I'm still close to her; I have my granddaughter every other week so I see her Mom all the time and we talk, hang out, have lunch etc. it upset his current gf because I don't do the same with her. Well I don't know her and haven't spent as much time with her and honed what I do know about her isn't good. Early on in their relationship, she Catfished my granddaughter's Mom and to me, that's just starting shit. She's also a drama queen.  Not to mention she's called the cops on my son before. I feel like just because he likes or loves her drama ladened ass doesn't mean I have to.

Your bf's mother is an adult and can pick who she chooses to associate with. It's doesn't mean that she thinks you're not good enough for her son.

The other thing is that you don't know what he's saying to his family about your relationship. My son tells me all the time about how he doesn't reallllly wanna be with her etc etc. Even that doesn't make me dislike her. The things I know she's done is what makes me know she's not the type of person I'd ever be close with. Not saying you've done anything; just saying what my situation is like.

My MIL hang out with her daughter's ex and it doesn't seem to bother her. It does get annoying when she talks about him while her daughter and her new bf are there. People can built relationships with whoever they want to, you can't control that but inviting her to ur bf's event is little over board. Set some boundaries.

My ex and my mom still do things together he takes her grocery shopping or to work if the weather is to bad he has been to parties etc and we split up 2012 and I am now married... I don't care who my mom hangs with but I do get respect even if she invites him to something that's a family function he will stop by just to drop a gift etc but he won't stay and if he knows it's something that will involve me directly he will decline and send something in the mail
