can dogs detect labor?

Question

I've heard they can but not sure. I'm 12 days from due date. FTM and I realllly don't think I have any signs of labor though. My dog currently lays there staring at me. He refuses to eat. All pregnancy he follows me but now is keeping distance some. Anyone have any personal or know of someone's dog who "detected labor" before it started.

I think dogs are just very protective animals. I'm not sure if they can detect something like labour. But you dog almost certainly knows that some thing is happen to you aka your growing a baby. He possibly thinks something is wrong with you because you belly would have grown. When he realises it was a baby in there, he will realise that he has a new human to protect. Dogs are wonderful animals!!

When I was in early labor, my sister in laws dog, Hailey, wrapped her paws around me and lied her head on my stomach, staring straight at me. She'd actually counteract my contractions with a little bit of pressure from her head, and it helped the sting to go away
