any doctors? strep throat

Yesterday I woke up at about 2 in the morning with a severely sore throat, and as the day progressed the sore throat felt less and less sore but I felt wore and worse. I finally checked my temp it was 102.4 so I went to the ER bc it was after hours. I took Tylenol and ibuprofen. They tested me for flu and strep since I had the sore throat aches loss of appetite and high fever. Both came back negative, but he said my WBC count was high which lead him to believe I do in fact have strep bc of my sypmtoms. He told me that the rapid tests aren't always acruate for strep. I'm scared to take antibiotics because I've recently had c diff so I asked him if I could have something less offending. He gave me Z-pack. Do I take it? Or does this sound more viral? I'm still running a low grade fever. Just don't know what to do and I'm scared
