Tdap vaccine ?

My Dr is asking me to get this vaccine around 28 weeks and I personally don't like to put things in my body let alone now pregnant.

I skipped the flu shot but is this vaccine is important and is it safe to take while pregnant?

It's really important because it spreads temporary immunity to the baby as well, which protects him from whooping cough and the rest until he's old enough to get his first vaccine.

I have heard lots of mixed things about this. . So I'm just gonna give u my personal opinion and my personal experience with it.
My obgyn NEVER said anything about any shots. I never knew about the Dtap until in active labor at 41 weeks,  when my nurse said:" oh, I see u had no dtap, would u like to get it now? " I looked at her and said :" is that a cookie? Or something else to eat?  Cause I'm sure hungry" . (I was serious and didn't know what it was). She laughed and told me it was a shot.  I said :" I'm 4 cm dilated,  fully effaced and with contractions every 30 seconds.  Do u THINK I want it? Is it mandatory? Cause I'll pass if it's not"
I didn't get it. My daughter is 6 months old she didn't get sick once, she's healthy. So I guess in my opinion,  it's not necessary. Especially since my obgyn didbt even mention it.

With my first, my doc said me and anyone who was going to be around the baby consitently should get the shot. New infants cannot get vaccinations so it is extremely important that we guard ourselves from illnesses to protect them. Whooping cough is DEADLY in very young infants.

I've never gotten the flu shot so I skipped that.  but I watched my dad, a grown ass man, suffer from whooping cough in December.

I got the vaccine because I can't imagine watching my baby go through what my father did. It was horrible, of me getting a tiny shot can prevent my baby from getting sick like that then hell yes I will absolutely take the shot.

I plan on getting this and I got the flu shot. I was worried about the flu because I didn't want to get sick but they said they don't use the live virus anymore and knock on wood I haven't gotten sick. Apparently it gives the baby immunity for 6 months because if they get the flu before that time it can be deadly good luck.

Whooping cough is horrible and yes I will be getting the vaccine. My husband works in the ER and it's not even a question for us. He has seen some very sick babies come through .

This one is a must. Your baby will be at risk for pertussis and be unable to get the vaccination until he/she is a bit older. So, for now, your baby needs those antibodies through you.

I don't get the flu shot. Like ever lol, but this one I'd say is a must. But that is my personal opinion. They are two very different shots.

I'M the same but this includes the whooping cough vaccine and personally I haven't had this since I was. A kid so I got it. It'll protect babe from pertussis as an infant which can be deadly. I also declined the flu shot bc I've never had it and didn't want to start now while pregnant but have had the tdap as most have as childhood vaccines. You're body and baby but just thought I'd give you an opinion from someone sort of like minded on this subject. Anyone who will be around babe should get it updated according to my dr.
