My son was sleeping through the night from 6 weeks. He went through a 4 month sleep regression and we made it through. Then came the 6 month sleep regression that lasted for over a month. He would scream in my arms for hours, 2 hours actually, as I rocked/walked/sang to him until he passed out from pure exhaustion. It was at this point we turned to crying it out. The first night he cried for a hour, it was hard. Every 10 minutes I went in to check on him. The next night took half that time. By the end of the week he didn't cry. And in the morning we were both happier. Now when I put him down after nursing, he lays in bed and babbles for 15 minutes and then falls asleep on his own. Waking only at 6 or 7 for a nursing session and going back to bed until 9.

No. Babies aren't made to be independent and self soothing.

🙅🏼no way. I want him to know he can depend on me to always be there for him. I let him fuss a little if I can't get to him right then but I'm talking to him the whole time.
