GENDER IDENTITY: Someone you should know: Cherríe Moraga

Ev

Cherríe Moraga is an Chicana writer and activist. Her work focuses on education, the arts, spiritual practice, and indigenous women’s rights. As a poet, playwright, and essayist, Moraga explores the ways that gender, sexuality, and race intersect in the lives of women of color.

In This Bridge Called My Back, a collection of essays by women of color, Moraga writes: “I am a woman with a foot in both worlds; and I refuse the split. I feel the necessity for dialogue. Sometimes I feel it urgently.”

For Moraga, telling the story of her life is one key to liberation.
