A good way to start: "Dude, that's not okay."
For generations, LGBTQ folks have been ostracized, just for loving who they love. So no, random guy in art class, it's not okay to insult your table-mate's work by saying: "That's so gay."
No matter where you fall on the sexuality spectrum, it's up to you to call that out. When others hear you standing up, they'll cotton on, too. You go, girl!
