LBGT 101: Queer writer you should know: Audre Lorde

Ev

Audre Lorde (1934–1992) is a self-describe “black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet” who used her voice to address the injustices of racism, sexism, and homophobia.

Her writing spans from love poems to impassioned cries for activism, and the now-famous quote below about self-care.

In a time when it was difficult to be out, Lorde refused to be silenced, and used her words to uplift other marginalized groups.

Praise the Lorde!
