After 41 long weeks Collette was born today via oral cytotec induction at 11:03am. The contractions were rough but labor only lasted 4 hours after 8 hours of cytotec doses every 2 hours. At 7am I was still about 1cm but then all of a sudden the contractions kicked in and I ended up getting an epidural once I hit 5 cm around 10am. The epidural was virtually painless it hurt less than getting the iv line placed in my hand (and I hate needles). The hardest part of the of the epidural was remaining still as they doctors tried to insert 3 different catheters... third time ended up working and within 15 minutes I didn't feel a thing. Boom contractions and back pain gone... the worst part for me was the back pain. By the time the epidural was complete they checked me again and I was 10cm... they asked me if I felt the need to push which I didn't. Had the faint urge to poop so I kinda went with that and 3 pushes later she was in my arms. Immediately did skin to skin and delayed cord clamping. I was a little disappointed that the hospital didn't have Friday pickups for donated cord blood so it got disposed of. But my princess is here and it felt unreal. Not like omg I'm a mom .. but more like we've been bonding for 41 weeks and I already love you more than I cold ever imagine. Watching her sleep now in my arms I miss the closeness we shared all these months but I'm excited for the new adventure that awaits us. Daddy was very supportive even though mommy was a monster when the contractions hit. Mommy turned into a crazy woman who immediately forgot all the nice things she wrote in her birth plan about wanting a drug and epidural free labor lol... and you know what I'm glad I did. 4 hours of pain free labor is way better than I expected.
