Does this sound mean?

Hoping my MIL and FIL don't think it's rude. They are a very close knit family and are the type the want to be there for everything. They have 2 other grandkids and have been there the second the baby was born.
 I told my SO that I probably won't want them constantly there during labor but might want my mom. When I'm in pain I always want my mom.  And that the first hour or so I will probably want some alone time with our little one and then we can have visitors. Probably won't want anyone around the first couple of days at home either until me and the baby are more settled.

Don't forget that even though he isn't giving birth, this is a scary and stressful event for your husband too, and he might want his parents around for support. I understand not letting them in the during labor and delivery, but does it hurt to have them in a waiting room and let them in a hour or 2 after birth? And I understand. It wanting a parade of visitors when you get home, but you may actually find that the parents stopping by for an hour or two gives you a chance to rest.

I have the exact same thing. I lost my mum when I was young and my dad lives away. As a result I'm quite an independent and private person.

My SOs family are all up in each other's business. So we've compromised. My brother and his parents can come to the hospital.... when I say I'm ready. And the rest of the family will have to wait until we get home x

My hubs family is like that. We aren't telling anyone but his parents when I go into labor....and even then, I'm only allowing my MIL to come to the Hospital sometime AFTER I give birth. My mom will be watching my first son and will be bringing him after baby is born too.  Everyone else can wait till sometime after we get home... Even Grandpas. I'm gonna be feeling gross and figuring out breastfeeding. I don't want anyone else coming to the hospital.

When I was pregnant with my daughter my mother in law was talking about the delivery. She clearly stated "cj will be there. You're mom will be there. I will be there" I was like uhhhhhhh no. I didn't want to tell anyone when we went into labor!! But calls ended up being made and everyone knew but we made sure no one came to the hospital until we were ready. My mom came right away and no one else came until the next day.
