Losing Everything..
My SO and I are losing the apartment we live in, it was mostly by choice because once our lease ended we were told we'd be paying on a month to month basis with the rent starting at $750. They lied. We never received a bill for a $300 payment they demanded, had no knowledge of them wanting it until we got a notice in the mail that we had 7 days to pay it or move out. A couple days after this we got a bill in the mail for the next months rent, the total on that bill was $1,210. The $300 we previously hadn't known about and $910 for a single month of rent. We decided not to pay anything, and again only a few days later we received a letter in the mail demanding our presence in two weeks in court for eviction. Normally the bill for rent comes 2 weeks or so in advance allowing the tenant to have time to pay.
We were expecting my tax refund to come weeks ago, it's at a point that we have no idea if it's even coming. I spoke with the people who sent it (a third party) and they gave me a tracking number which isn't a valid tracking number. They said the only thing that we can do is print out a form, fill it out, have it signed by a notary public, send it back them and after they've gotten it they'll cancel the check and issue a new one. So it could be an additional 3-4 weeks before we see the money.
In the meantime we're totally broke, my SO goes for an interview for a good job either Monday or Tuesday, we have no where to live soon, no where to store our belongings or our daughter's things. We have an 8 1/2 month old and another on the way.
I'm stressed and freaking out about all this on a daily basis and just don't know what to do anymore.
