I think it usually works but i wouldnt rely on it for birth control.

We used this method for about 7 years and no babies, when we tried for baby #2 we got pregnant right away!

Used it successfully for 2 years before ttc. However, as this is definitely my last pregnancy, we plan to become a bit better at preventing (possible permanent measures), just because there is always that risk there.
