Baby's Born! Pre-eclampsia C Section Birth

Sam
Following late onset severe pre eclampsia, I was induced with a pessary and then the drip. I was also put on a magnesium drip to protect my brain from the blood pressure spikes. My first epidural leaked and didn't work, nightmare! Second one was better but poor Izzy was turned the wrong way, so I was taken to theatre where I was numbed with a spinal block and tried pushing again with instrumental help but still to no avail so c section it was.
When she was born Izzy showed signs of shock and was whisked away due to fears of infection. Those 2 days she spent in Special Care were the longest of our lives- people who deal with babies in care for weeks are incredible. She had jaundice and so spent 12 hours under the lamps and since then we've been feeding her as much as possible to flush out the bilirubin.
I'm from the UK and the NHS are without doubt the most wonderful, helpful and priceless asset we have in this country.
Midwives and nurses rule!!
It was an ordeal, but we are so lucky and Isobel was so worth it: we are so in love.
