Anyone use the pick up put down method?

I do not want to let my son cio. I cant handle letting him do that. He is 4 months old. He only sleeps on me. Me and hubby are worried about all bedsharing so i need to transition LO from my chest to his crib..... thinking of trying pupd method but im worried about how long it will take. Any experience? Suggestions?

I did something like this and it WORKED within 4 days! CIO didn't work for us because crying made her gassy which made her cry more! So picking her up helped her release that gas when she did cry :)

I did our bedtime routine then layed her down in her crib. If she cried, I picked her up. Once she calmed down I layed her back down again. I did this 3 times. After the 3rd time if she still cried once back in her crib, I left the room for 5 minutes. Then I went back in and picked her up until she calmed down. Then left for another 5 minutes. If she was crying, then I went back in and picked her up. I repeated this until picking her up didn't calm her down anymore. At that point I put her in the crib and let her cry for 10 minutes Then went back in to pick her up. After putting her back down I waited 15 minutes before going back in to pick her up, but she never made it because she went to sleep.

It is sort of a mix between CIO and PUPD. It worked like a charm for us. After the first 2 nights I only had to pick her up like 2 or 3 times and now she self soothes to sleep for naps and bedtime! And finally sleeps through the night! She is almost 8 months old and I did this with her when she was 6.5 months old. She was used to bedsharing with me so it was also a transition to her crib. I've never heard of this method, what is it? I also don't like CIO, but I'm in the same boat with my 4 month old! He will sleep in his crib for a little while..longest he's ever done was like almost three hours and that was just once, most of the time lately it's maybe an hour. Obviously I can't do that all night, and the times I've tried it doesn't go well..he ends up cranky and overtired because he wakes up so much. I put him in his crib when we first go to bed and hope for the best. And then usually the first time he wakes up I let him sleep on me for a few hours, then I'll put him back in his crib and hope for the best again. I've been doing this for a little over a month I think. I just keep hoping that it will help him get used to it but I have no idea if it's actually working. Definitely open to suggestions, and curious about the pick up put down method! Good luck with your LO!

Not sure if this is the exact method, but this is what I used.

Can take just a couple weeks to months. Depends on your child and you. If your doing it for bed, make sure you establish a key word for bedtime. We used night night time, but you can use whatever. Make sure the enviroment is calm with minimal light, soft sounds, and only few words. Establish a consistent bedtime routine. Bath time, story, singing, anything that doesnt stimulate too much. Now... The hard part. Pick up, soothe however is quickest, once calm, put down and use key word. Start walking away. Rinse and repeat lengething the intervals. Always use a calm even voice. With my son it took about 2 weeks of this and then off and on for another almost 2 weeks. Consitancy is key. I start around 8pm. Tummy time, story, bath, sing, feed, burp, and sleep. Usually falls asleep by 10. Sometimes later, sometimes earlier. Watch your baby for cues of how tired or stimulated. Generally when your baby starts showing the first signs of being tired is the best time to start the routine. In the end you need to find what works best for you and your baby. Sometimes I let my son fall asleep in bed after eating, then after 20 min I move him to his bed. Good luck mama
