the Birth of Elaina Jane

Chamara
I'm so happy I can write abou her birth because that means SHES BORN and I've been waiting for that forever! I was 39 weeks and doing every trick in the book to induce myself. It was a rainy Saturday so I asked if I could go to my in laws house to walk on their treadmill #walkthebabyout. They say he's so I get out of bed to get ready. I feel slightly more wet in my underwear than normal so I just go to the bathroom and change underwear. Got breakfast, came up stairs to shower, my underwear is wet again. At this point I'm PRAYING my water has broken. So I forgo the shower, get ANOTHER pair of underwear and put a pad in, then hubby and I go to his parents house. I start walking. Walk for about 20 minutes and then go to the bathroom, the pad is wet through the middle to my underwear. I try to discreetly call my husband upstairs to ask him what he thinks and we decided to call the hospital, where my doctor just happens to be on call. We call at 11:40 and wait for the return call. After and hour and a OB&ok sandwhich later, I call again. They didn't have record of my page, so I put it in again and then I was disconnected. Around 2:15, I call AGAIN and my doctor called back immediately telling me to come in. At this point we had packed our bags, showered and we're ready just in case. Do we hop in the car and get to the hospital right around 3. They start testing me to see if it's amniotic fluid. All of the tests come back negative. So I'm thinking we're headed home. By my doctor comes in and I think she wanted to cheer me up because I wasn't in labor and she tells me they're going to really make sure by giving an ultrasound to check the baby's fluid. So they do the ultrasound only found 3 cm of fluid and baby needs at least 5. So they induce. I had oral cytotec until my contractions were regular and then pitocin. I slept the whole time just gearing up for baby. On Sunday they realize I hadn't made any changes except a little more effaced (started at 1 cm 25%effaced) so they insert a Foley bulb. That's wh things started to hurt. I was in SO much pain from the pitocin. Took an iv pain reliever that took off the edge of the contractions but man did they still hurt. I decided when the foley bulb came out I would get an epidural. Went to the bathroom, bulb fell out, got the epidural (super easy btw) and slept until the next morning (Monday) around 10 felt the need to push I was at a 10, fully effaced baby at a +1. I started pushing at 11 and after an hour of the most work I've ever done with the most insane amount of pressure, Elaina was born at 12:06. I had a small internal tear that doesn't hurt and baby and I are 100% healthy. I was there for a long time but all in all, I had an easy labor.  Medical interventions don't always end in a csection!! Yay!
